Our sustainability commitments
What is the festival doing to be environmentally responsible?
Caring for creation is part of how we live out our faith, and we’re committed to doing that well. We’re continuously working to reduce our environmental impact across the whole festival, from how we manage waste and food to how we approach transport and energy use.
You can read more about our specific commitments and year-on-year progress at bigchurchfestival.com/helpful-info/sustainability.
How does recycling work on site?
Recycling bins are located around the site. Please separate your waste into the correct bins. Even better, if you can take your recycling home with you, we’d really appreciate it. Some items are easier to recycle locally, and the less waste we process on site, the more we can keep costs down and ticket prices as accessible as possible.
Is there a reusable cup scheme?
More details on our cup scheme for 2026 will be shared closer to the event on our website and social channels. In the meantime, we’d encourage you to bring your own reusable cup or water bottle. Refill points are available across the site.
How can I travel to the festival sustainably?
- Lift-share with friends, family or others from your church. It’s more fun and better for the environment.
- Look into public transport options. Steyning is accessible by bus from Brighton, Worthing and Horsham, and the nearest train stations are Shoreham-by-Sea and Horsham.
- If you’re staying locally in Steyning, you’re welcome to walk to site.
We’ll share detailed sustainable travel guidance closer to the event. Thank you for making thoughtful choices. It genuinely makes a difference.
